If in doubt in order how to care for your Karup Design product here is an overview of what you should keep in mind to have as many good hours possible with your new family member.

We design furniture with the hopes of giving them a long and happy life with you. We all know that only comes with good care.

Invented in Japan. Designed in Denmark. Handmade in Poland.

A futon is not like any other type of mattress. A futon needs extra love and care due to its many possibilities. Your futon is depending on you. When down or 'worn out', please remember to reshape your futon by flipping it over to reshape the filling. You will immediately sense a change when doing that habitually.

I left a spot on my futon. What can I do?

Futons do not tolerate water. In case of an incident please clean your futon with a damp cloth with a small amount of clear dish washing soap (You should never do this on a linen or cotton fabric as stains can occur). Do not rub but clean your futon by dapping the area from dirt. Finish your cleaning by using a clean and non-dyed cloth to dry out the area. The characteristics of our pinewood

We design furniture from high-quality natural pinewood. The knots in our natural pinewood furniture are consideredas individual characteristics and charisma of each piece of furniture. Not two will look the same. You can expect the naturalpinewood surfaces to change over time when being permanently exposed to climate and humidity fluctuations. The above mentioned changes are normal for natural raw materials such as wood.

Please be aware that the following points apply in general:· Do not place hot objects on the furniture· Do not place candles directly on the furniture· Immediately wipe off any spilled liquids· Regularly check if the screws and fittings are tight· The typical, aromatic wooden odor is always a proofof quality for our natural wood furniture

In the Karup Design collection you will find serveral fabrics. We have divided up the different fabrics that need special care. Here is how we want to make sure you will have a long life together:

This fabric is made from 100 % cotton and is available on all futon bed mattresses, which are made to fit all bed frames from Karup Design. We recommend using a sheet to cover your futon bed mattress to make it last and stay neat. This fabric does not tolerate water. If needed please use a dry cloth to wipe it clean.

Our linen fabric is available on all sofa beds in the Karup Design collection. Linen is a natural raw material with a need of special care. Linen does not tolerate water. If your linen covered futon becomes wet, stains can occur. Therefore, make sure to not clean with water. Use a non-dyed cloth to dry out the area by dapping the wet stain.

Our newest addition to our fabric collection is our corduroy fabric. This is made from 100 % polyester and is available on our Folk and Grab sofa bed. Our corduroy fabric can be vacuumed and you can use a small amount of dish-washing soap on a damp cloth to clean it. Remember to use a clean and non-dyed cloth for drying up the wet spot.

Our wowen fabric is available on our Uma sofa bed. Like our corduroy fabric the wowen fabric is made from 100 % polyester. To remove dirt you can vacuum it clean and a damp cloth with a small amount of dish-washing soap will remove stains. Make sure not to rub onto the fabric but in stead dab it clean and dry for a longer life time.

Our mixed fabric is made from 80 % cotton and 20 % polyester. This fabric is available for all products in the Karup Design collection in several colors. Since the bigger part of this fabric is made from natural raw material please make sure to use a sheet when sleeping on your product with a mixed fabric. Do only clean with a dry cloth to prevent stains.

Our outdoor products are made from a first-rate 100 % acrylic dralon fabric which is stain resistant and water-repellent. In rain the material makes water slide off the surface. Please do always bring your OUT products inside in heavy rain to care for it the best way possible. Use a damp cloth and wipe the OUT futon clean if needed.

tatami mat is used to place under a mattress or as a yoga mat.
Wabi tatami mat is designed to be a room divider, but can also be used under a mattress.

All tatami mats must be kept dry in order to avoid any mold/mildew. We recommend that your tatami is only wiped with a slightly damp cloth and no harsh cleaning solutions or vacuum along the weave of the tatami. Going against the weave direction may damage the tatami or cause the dirt to get pushed into it. While using vacuum cleaning, make sure to select the weakest setting.

You might notice a scent from your tatami mat. This comes from the natural rice straws and will disappear over time - therefore this is not categorized as a fault of the product.

Tatami mats are sensitive to moisture, avoid leaving carpet or other covering material on top of a tatami mat as it creates a moist environment for mold. We recommend cleaning and airing out the tatami once in a while, most likely up against a wall. Dry and sunny days are best for airing the tatami mats.
